POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for ensuring that all completed orders are prepared and shipped to customers on a daily basis. Coordinates activities with Production, Sales, Procurement and Materials functions. Works under general supervision and generally established parameters. Has responsibility for work output. Makes decisions and takes action within agreed parameters and established precedents.

1. Assess, coordinate and prioritize all shipments on a daily basis with focus on timely delivery.

2. Arrange for carrier pick-up and delivery of customer orders. Ensure customers are receiving the best rates and delivery times where specific carriers are not specified.

3. Maintain adequate stock of all supplies and equipment needed for efficient department operation.

4. Evaluate parts backlog on a daily basis.

5. Create invoices for all orders through the internal financial system.

6. Maintain shipping logs to track all shipments.

7. Conform with the organizations ISO 9001 & 14001 requirements

 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Prior experience with inventory, order preparation and invoicing systems.

2. Effective computer skills in light business applications.

3. Previous supervisory/management experience with non-exempt staff.

4. Ability to handle multiple priorities at the same time.

 

Other duties may be assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervise all employees in the Return Merchandise Dept. Perform supervisory

responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and solving problems.

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

Qualifications:

Language Ability

Ability to read, write, and interpret documents in English. Good communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to speak effectively before groups of people.

 

Mathematical Ability

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Must know, understand and utilize basic electronic formulas.

 

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to solve practical problems

 

Computer Skills

Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, email and order processing software;

 

Other Skills

Excellent written/oral communication, organizational and technical service skills, solid mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Education and/or Experience:

Education requirements: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; and minimum five years demonstrated experience in shipping preferably in a mechanical or electro-mechanical environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
