Application Engineer

The Application Engineer uses technical and commercial knowledge and skills to provide support and service to both external customers and the Company’s sales team. The Application Engineer reports to the Engineering Leader and is responsible for selection, evaluation, and modification of Company’s products to meet our customer’s needs. He/She applies knowledge of Life Science product designs and fluidic systems to recommend and design new products into various LS applications. The role also provides support to existing customers with technical support recommendations and troubleshooting.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Provide the highest quality level of technical product support to customers, all sales channels, and other internal customers in a timely manner.
• Develop strong working relationships with Company’s Engineering personnel and Company’s Engineering customers.
• Receive, evaluate, prioritize, and process all opportunities for Application Engineering projects. Complete them in the requested time and document all correspondence.
• Participates in and promotes process improvements within assigned areas.
• Performs work which involves conventional engineering practices, but includes a variety of complex features, such as conflicting design requirements and non-standard materials.
• Provides direct support of sales and development by sharing information in the form of proposals and design reviews.
• Provide input to Marketing on technical aspects of our products and applications, sales literature, catalogs, website, etc.
• Lead development of solutions to customer needs ensuring the goal of exceeding customer expectations.
• Ensures design meet reliability and process capability criteria.
• Provide technical training on the Company’s Life Science product portfolio to internal or external customers.
• Travel up to 25% of time with overnight stay

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Science or equivalent required
• Post-graduate technical degree preferred
• Greater than 3 years of experience in related field required, including post-graduate experience
• Solid understanding of Life Science applications such as Analytical, Biotechnology, Diagnostics or Medical Device.
• Hands on experience troubleshooting fluidics and fluidic control systems is a plus.
