Construction Engineering II

Position Summary

The Construction Engineering(CE) II is an intermediary role on the Construction Engineering team. After a project has been uploaded from the site audit, they would review the data and determine adders and work necessary to make the project buildable. The CE II should be able to design & build systems to make sure the Freedom production guarantee is met or true-up is completed within the boundaries of the SunRun agreement. The CE II will complete PV design packages, The packages will consist of electrical, structural and layout design work that follows building and electrical codes as well as jurisdictional requirements for permitting. The CE II will work directly with Dealer, HQ and Branch teams alike to present solutions and ways to make every job more profitable, ie. working with the PM team to acquire bids or working with our branches to help improve install time and quality.

Job Duties/ Responsibilities

• Demonstrate independent judgment and knowledge of solar construction including roofing, electrical, and ground-mounted installations
• Designing and reviewing construction documents for PV systems
• Excel at problem-solving and identifying solutions to lower job costs and create buildable jobs for all branches
• Performing engineering calculations per the NEC and building codes to properly size equipment
• Create Statements of Work for Sales and Operations Team through the exercise of discretion and independent judgment
• Drafting system layouts, one‐line diagrams and sitemaps
• Staying educated on the latest equipment and industry best practices
• Create RFQ’s for Project Managers to request quotes from Subcontractors
• Self‐proofing work to ensure accuracy before allowing any project to continue through the pipeline
• Be comfortable completing research online and via phone for solar projects
• Coordinate with Headquarters & Branch departments on a daily basis
• Work closely with CE II and IV to resolve issues on projects and keep the pipeline flowing for all branch offices
• Follow standard operating procedures and protocol to ensure the accuracy of your layouts
• Maintain department standards and work with management to improve process and build requirements
• Complete all assigned Edd app courses.
• Other duties as assigned

Qualification Requirement

• Must have a proven high skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting, and quality requirements
• Must know how to handle problems quickly and efficiently
• Must be very organized and have great communication skills
• Ability to demonstrate strong computer skills
• 1 Year in Construction / Solar installation experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
• 1 year of experience in Solar as a Designer
• Demonstrated ability to solve complicated electrical and construction issues
• Basic knowledge in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office
• Exceptional creative problem‐solving and analytical skills
• Acute attention to detail
• Experience with electrical or mechanical design
• An understanding of the National Electric Code
• An understanding of the Building Code

• Must be a team player
• Must work well unsupervised and be self‐motivated

Pay: $22-$24/hr
