Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer determines the most efficient methods to manufacture and assemble products and components; this includes designing and/or improving machinery, fixtures, tooling, and test equipment as well as preparing and maintaining process documents. This position interacts frequently with other departments and outside vendors, regarding the purchase of machinery and tooling.

This position is for a Medical Device Manufacturer located in the Summerlin area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Design, Implement, and Validate manufacturing processes and support live processes when problems arise.
2. Improve the performance of manufacturing processes using lean manufacturing principles and tools.
3. Collaborate with Design Engineers to assist with the development of new products and make recommendations regarding materials, manufacturing processes, and labor needs.
4. Develop and maintain process documents including Process Flow Diagrams (PFD), Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (PFMEA), and Work Instructions.
5. Implement Engineering Change Orders.
6. Drive and participate in the implementation of Lean principles, including but not limited to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED), 5S, and root cause analysis.
7. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience

1. Bachelor's degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, or related fields; and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience; or an advanced degree with a minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
2. Strong background in Lean methodologies and experience in implementing improvements in an assembly or machining environment.
3. Strong troubleshooting skills and be up to date with technologies used in assembly, testing and machining.
4. Background in CNC machining, machine tools, material handling systems, and industrial production equipment preferred.
5. Basic knowledge of electrical, electronics and programming preferred.
6. Ability to analyze part tolerance requirements and match them to process capability. Familiar and able to apply GD&T concepts.
7. Experience and exposure to CAD/CAM tools (SolidWorks preferred).
8. Dynamic, self-starter team player with excellent communication skills.
